Emergency Preparedness and Response Team
The Emergency Preparedness and Response Team is a group of professionals that are responsible for planning for and responding to any disaster or emergency event (natural or man-made) that affects the health and medical infrastructure within Nassau County.
Plans developed by this team prepare all DOH-Nassau staff to respond to various scenarios such as:
- Epidemiological Surveillance and Investigation
- Epidemiological Isolation and Quarantine
- Mass Casualties
- Mass Prophylaxis
- Special Needs Shelters
The team is part of Region 3 of the Florida Domestic Security Task Force. When needed, the team assists during disaster events in other Florida counties. During times of catastrophic national incidents, the team may deploy to disasters outside the state of Florida.
The Emergency Preparedness Program and employees of DOH-Nassau ensure essential public health services throughout disaster events through coordination with Nassau County emergency services agencies, federal, state, and local agencies, local hospitals, and volunteer organizations.
