The St. Johns Water Management District has delegated the Florida Department of Health in Nassau County as the Approved agency to issue Potable Well, Irrigation Well, and Abandonment of Well permits in Nassau County. Our dedicated team ensures that all well permits meet stringent safety and health standards to protect our community's drinking water.
Well Permitting Process
To obtain a well permit, residents must submit an application that includes details about the proposed well location, construction plans, and intended use. Our Environmental Health Specialists review each application to ensure compliance with state and local regulations.
Water Quality Monitoring
We regularly monitor the quality of drinking water in Nassau County through bacteriological and chemical sampling. This helps us identify and address potential contaminants that could affect public health.
Public Education and Resources
We provide educational resources to help residents understand the importance of safe drinking water and how to maintain their private wells. Our website offers guidelines on well maintenance, water testing, and steps to take in case of contamination.
Emergency Response
In the event of a waterborne illness outbreak or contamination incident, our team is prepared to respond swiftly to protect public health. We work closely with local authorities and community partners to ensure a coordinated response.
