Our primary responsibility is Tuberculosis control and prevention as listed in Chapter 392 of the Florida Statutes. Our office consists of a group of highly qualified health personnel are trained to conduct a community based tuberculosis control program.
The Tuberculosis staff members are engaged in a wide array of activities including:

Field services
Field services are responsible for all Outreach activities aimed at screening and identifying persons exposed to TB and for the administration of Directly Observed Therapy (DOT).
Surveillance servicesPublic health surveillance is the ongoing, systematic collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of data about a health-related event for use in public health action to reduce morbidity and mortality and to improve health. It involves activities such as Detection (a circumstance or event that identifies a presumptive case-patient); Reporting (flow of data, information, messages); Confirmation (use of epidemiological and laboratory test information to verify the status of registered case-patients); Analysis (examination and interpretation of surveillance data).
